One summer while touring and teaching students in Europe, we went to Italy . I can remember the nostalgia I felt. Although my parents both came from Italy it was my first time there. This trip felt to me as if I were coming home.
My goal while there was to capture everyday life. One day as we were walking through the streets I came upon this scene of colorful homes with the wash hanging between the buildings. How down to earth is that? I decided to capture this scene in watercolor. The result is this rendition of an “Italian Street Scene”.
