As a young high school student I was fortunate
to have several mentors as I pursued my art. Mrs. Norton was one teacher who really encouraged me to not be afraid of watercolor
and to use bright and vibrant colors in my art. She spoke about me to several other teachers one of which was Ms. Donaldson
of Fifth Avenue High School .
Having been born and raised in the Lower Hill District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania near Mercy Hospital it was natural for me to associate
with the many ethnic groups that grew up in the area. Seeing these neighborhoods on a daily basis inspired me to render the watercolor
of the “ Lower Hill District, Pittsburgh , PA ”.
